About Singapore Handpan Studio
Where strangers sit down, play a few notes, and leave as friends.
Our Story
Singapore Handpan Studio began in 2022 with a simple idea. When Yana An founded it, there was no formal handpan school in Singapore — just curiosity, a beautiful instrument, and a growing circle of people who felt something special when they heard its sound. What started as a small sharing community quickly became a place where strangers sat down together, played a few notes… and left as friends.
In the early days, it was less about "lessons" and more about connection. People came after work, on weekends, sometimes just to listen. The handpan has a way of slowing everything down — and in a city that moves as fast as Singapore, that felt important.
Word spread naturally. One person brought a friend, then another. Before long, over 1,000 people had walked through our doors — and many chose to stay, becoming part of a warm and growing community.
Our mission has always been simple: to share the love of the handpan and the healing benefits of playing it. The instrument is intuitive, meditative, and surprisingly accessible. You don't need a musical background — just curiosity and an open heart. Handpan is truly for everyone.
Our home is at Pearl's Hill, Singapore's art enclave for artists and musicians — a space that reflects our spirit: creative, open, and welcoming. We're open almost every day, because inspiration doesn't keep office hours.
Whether you want to learn your first scale, perform on stage, reconnect with yourself, or simply meet new people who share your curiosity — you are welcome here.
